Perforated Wallcovering.
Installation.
Wallcoverings must be installed by an experienced commercial wallcovering installation professional who understands wallcovering use and installation requirements, including the requirement to test for and eliminate sources of moisture accumulation prior to installing the wallcovering.
Perforated wallcovering can be installed the same way as commercial vinyl wallcovering with a few exceptions. However, if the wall itself is not permeable, perforated wallcovering will provide no permeability benefit. For example, a wall which has been sealed with impermeable primer or paint will not be permeable. If permeability is specified, then preexisting walls should be tested for permeability and, in all cases, permeable primers and adhesives must be used.
OMNOVA recommends dry hanging perforated wallcovering (applying adhesive to the wall). This reduces or eliminates ooze-through of the adhesive and should reduce the amount of clean-up. Heavy duty clay or heavy duty clear adhesive (without dilution) can be used. Apply a light uniform coat of adhesive on the wall and hang the pre-cut strip using conventional tools for smoothing and cutting the wallcovering. Any excess adhesive that oozes through the wallcovering can be removed with clean water. Wallcovering should be installed immediately after applying adhesive to the wall to reduce the risk that the adhesive will lose its tack prior to the wallcovering being applied.
