2018 Annual Report
“Start by doing what is necessary. Then, do what is possible.
Suddenly you are doing the impossible.” — Francis of Assisi.
For nearly 60 years, our endowed foundation has invested in possibilities that support our local communities. At OMNOVA Solutions Foundation, we understand that the potential to improve outcomes relies upon a solid foundation of education, creativity and innovative problem solving.
Health & Human Services
When an individual is educated to their full potential, not only do they improve their own situation, they improve the potential of their family and the community where they live and work. That’s why we focus on funding vital educational programs. We provided $919,911 in support of these initiatives throughout the United States in 2018 for programs such as Friends of Breakthrough Schools.
Friends of Breakthrough Schools
This nationally recognized network of schools was formed in 2010 by the highest-performing, college preparatory, nonprofit public charter schools in Cleveland. They strive to further Greater Cleveland’s transformation by providing distinctive school options for no fewer than 5,000 children in Cleveland.
Community is strength. When we instill a sense of place, and promote civic responsibility, we are investing in a better future for all. We empower and support community health and welfare by funding drug and crime prevention, urban renewal and other programs that elevate civic responsibility.
In 2018, we provided $304,808 in support of civic programs throughout the United States — programs like Values-in-Action Foundation.
Values-in-Action Foundation empowers students and adults to build communities of kindness, caring and respect through programs that teach, promote, and provide skills and tools to enable individuals to make positive values-based decisions every day.
HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES
Good health must not be taken for granted. Strong health and human services programs have the potential to impact so many lives. Investing in better healthcare and human services programs is about putting the individual first. And when you invest in healthier people, you are building stronger communities.
That’s why, in 2018, The OMNOVA Solutions Foundation gave $129,800 to fund health and human services programs including the Arthritis Foundation.
The Arthritis Foundation is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to addressing the needs of people living with arthritis in the United States. There are more than 50 million adults and 300,000 children living with arthritis, the nation’s leading cause of disability.
Cultural economic development is a necessity. Beyond providing a better quality of life, these programs have proven to have a positive impact on standardized test scores, and to transcend cultural boundaries.
Art is too important not to share, and these programs we support are providing a better appreciation of humanity.
We awarded $24,500 to fund arts and cultural diversity programs in 2018 such as Tuesday Musical Association.
Tuesday Musical Association
Tuesday Musical enriches the cultural life of Northeast Ohio by supporting and promoting the art of classical music through premier concert series, an array of education and community engagement programs, an annual scholarship program, exciting programs for members and guests, and inspired musical opportunities.
Not only do we strive to bring our communities together by supporting external resources, we also encourage our team members to take action in creating a better world through our Employee Community Leadership Awards.
