Coating Resins for Protective Uses

OMNOVA produces coating resins and additives that protect a variety of substrates from the wear and tear of everyday life, as well as potential catastrophic loss. We supply additives that protect concrete and masonry substrates from alkali, efflorescence, chemicals and weathering. Our chemistries also protect metal and steel from corrosion, and are used to formulate solvent borne intumescent coatings for fire protection of structural steel, which has benefited many of the world’s most iconic multi-story structures.

Intumescent Coatings

Our resins for solvent borne intumescent coatings provide fire protection to structural steel. These additives swell to many times their thickness under the influence of fire, which gives the steel a layer of insulating char to protect it from reaching its melting point.

For Efflorescence Resistance

Our efflorescence resistant resins form tough, durable films that prevent the migration of salt and water to the surface of a porous substrate.

For Concrete Protection

Our resins for concrete protection enable poured concrete and admixtures to resist moisture, blushing, blocking, efflorescence, exterior weathering, chemicals, alkali and more.
