Binders for nonwoven roofing applications

GenFlo 3896

Formaldehyde-free carboxylated styrene butadiene latex for nonwoven applications

Chemistry Type: Carboxylated styrene butadiene [XSB]

Function(s): Binders

GenFlo 3896 imparts excellent balance of tensile and tearing strength, and high temperature dimensional stability to spunbond, carded polyester, fiberglass mat and other standard types of nonwoven.

Key Advantages

  • Contains no formaldehyde generating functional groups but performs similar to self-crosslinking latices
  • Can be used as a sole binder in nonwoven applications
  • Allows for external crosslinking without formaldehyde generation when an appropriate external crosslinker is used
  • Compatible with conventional amino-based crosslinkers for applications where a low level of formaldehyde emission is acceptable
  • Can be applied by spray application, print-bonding, saturation, and roll / knife coating
